Good holiday weekend so far. I have been catching up on relaxation! Last night was a little exception when "Bubba", my grand dog, got sprayed directly in the face with a skunk! I am here to tell you that the old remedy of tomato juice does not work! OK, technically, if was canned tomatoes that had been in the pantry for quite a while but still did not work. Gram pa found a good remedy on the net so after three unsuccessful baths in tomato juice and shampoo, we finally got some good results! Now Bubba's skunk smell is very much subdued but still there! I was very thankful I did not have to sleep with him last night!

On to my art...New name, new outlook! I have decided to broaden my horizons and do a broader variety of art! My first creation in this venue is little Jackie Quincy O'Lantern. Jackie Q is a little quirky Jack-o-lantern with a little proud picture posing smile! I especially like his little candy bucket!

He is available on Ebay. I am in the embrionic stages of creating another Halloween piece. I will share with you whenever it is finished!
Have a wonder rest of the holiday weekend!

After Friday's excursion into the fun town of Floyd, I was kind of bitten by the photo bug and decided to take some more on Saturday night. Hmmm, where could I go...? I know! An excursion to my very own back yard! And wow-there is such beautiful life back there! I managed to get some fantastic photos! Here are some of them...Enjoy!

I have created new mermaid doll! Her name is Jennasee and she has a friend, Octavia. They are listed on Ebay and where so much fun to create!

Friday Night Country Insights

Last night was one of those great rare evenings when you stumble upon the unexpected. We (my daughter, my husband, and my future son-in-law) were on a mission to capture some great photography in a super little country town (Floyd) not to far from here. First, we saw a great photo opportunity of an old rustic barn with the sun setting majestically behind it...

To me, this old barn with the weathered boards and rusty tin roof, spoke of endurance. It had obviously been there for many years, and yet the sun continued to set on it as it has always had.

In the simpleness of nature, I was also reminded of some of life's lesson's....

Now, to the unexpected we stumbled upon... The town was holding a "jubilee" which was apparently a regular Friday night thing in the town. How did we never hear of this little shin dig? Such fun it was! There were little groups of blue grass players...Including this little fiddle player...

Then there was the country store with its fried apple pies and painting cows among lots of other feasts for the eyes which I did not get pictures of (alas, I did not get a photo of the old farmer with a floppy straw hat enjoying his hot dog) or they did not turn out well.

And to top it all off, I received several smiles and "How are yous" from complete strangers.

There was so much more to see of this little town and it outskirts-so many little country stores and little quaint art and antique shops as well as little local restaurants and cafes. We will definitely be returning.

This a Friday nights that will surely live fondly in my memory for some time to come.

August is rapidly passing by. I keep hearing of and reading of preparations for back to school. Where has the summer gone?

I have made a new little doll! I wanted to incorporate a sea theme and not do a mermaid. So...I created little Shellee Dupree-the little French dancing girl. Shellie's body is made from 2 sea shells glued together. She wears a sporty little beret made from another sea shell. I added a jaunty goose feather in it for just the right accent. And she has a sea shell turtle made from sea shells on the front of her dress! Her long paper clay legs are loosely yet securely attached to her body. This allows a whimiscal "dancing" of those long legs! She is for sale now on Ebay.

Two New Primitive Folk Art Dolls

Yesterday and today I finished two new primitive folk art dolls!

Amira & Mortimer

Amira, the name means "Princess" is being escorted through the ocean by the ever so formal and elegant Mortimer. Amira loves to survey her kingdom from atop Mortimer. She wears her crown and carries her trident. They are for sale on Ebay.

Next, I was inspired to create a little ghost ornament doll, "Ghost Gull". Ghost Gull is a little sea gull ghost who spreads the mist you sea every so often on the ocean. She is rather said with her one little broken wing. But cheer up! Hopefully she will find a good home and be happy... She has her own poem! She is listed now on Ebay.

Quest for The Dress...

I just had a lovely weekend with the girls-shopping for my daughter Tara's wedding which will be in the spring of 2010. She did not choose this dress so I'm figuring they are ok to show...Tara is the bride-to-be and Amanda is the maid of honor-both of them my lovely daughters whom I am very proud of!
And An Old Southern Cemetary...

We found the dress in Charlotte, NC. I have never really paid that close of attention to Charlotte although my sister has lived their for years. On this trip, we took the opportunity to explore a little... Did you know that their is an old cemetary smack dab in the downtown area of Charlotte?!
